Flu medications, especially popular brands such as NyQuil have yielded side effects for a variety of people. Some commonly reported symptoms included drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, trouble sleeping, or headaches. This study was designed to examine if there existed any functional relationship in action potentials induced by electric stimulations with NyQuil injection volume to the nerve cord of Lumbricus (L) terrestris. The action potential was obtained by electrical stimulations of 45, 90, and 135 mV three times each. The action potential parameters were defined as the latent period, wave width, peak point, and trough point. And these parameters were compared before and after the Nyquil injection from 50 uL up to 300 uL.
The study demonstrated a somewhat linear relationship for each action potential’s parameter and showed a consistent but moderate trend in change of those parameters according to the injection volume of the flu medication. More studies might be needed to clarify the terms of linearity constants in trendlines.
