Abstract

Nietzsche’s work is highly original in thought as well as spectacular in style, although produced under
most difficult personal circumstances. The entry on him in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
shows that post-modernism has been conducive to a fundamental re-evaluation of his set of highly
multifaceted messages. As the literature on Nietzsche grows every year, his anticipation of social
science subjectivism, epistemological perspectivism and strong endorsement of secularism receive
more and more comments and in humanities and the social sciences. Nietzsche was a great expert in
moral philosophy, his ideas so relevant for the arts and social sciences. Yet, he propagated some
ideals/values we cannot support. In addition, its legitimate morality of slave trade and gladiator games
had been crushed by Christian mercifulness, perhaps a step forward for humanity.
