In vitro plant regeneration and flowering were achieved from two explants of Vitex negundo L on MS medium containing different concentrations of auxins and cytokinins. The highest percentage (95.3%) of flowering was noticed from nodal explants cultured on MS medium supplemented with BAP 2.0 mg/l and NAA 0.1 mg/l combination. Of the two explants tested, maximum number of flower buds (9.10 1.50) was obtained from nodal explants than shoot tip explants (7.83 1.52). The regenerated shoots were transferred onto MS medium fortified with BAP (0.1 mg/l) and NAA (0.5 mg/l) for flower maturation and root induction. The regenerated plantlets have been successfully established in vermiculite soil. Subsequently, they were shifted to the field condition.
