Abstract

The study investigates the teacher’s perception of relevance of the internet services as a means of reducing the mass failure among the student of secondary schools in mathematics. One hundred (100) teachers are randomly selected from thirty (30) senior secondary schools transversely nine local government areas in the three senatorial districts of Ekiti State which comprise of ten (10) private schools and twenty (20) public schools. A general question was generated and answered descriptively, while six hypotheses were formulated and tested using t-test and ANOVA statistics. The result show that both male and female teachers perceived the internet services as a tool for reducing the mass failure among secondary school students. There is no significant difference between the perception of male and female teachers. There is also no significant difference between teachers in private and public schools. No significant difference exists in the perception of various qualifications of teachers on the relevance of the internet services. Significant difference exists between the perception of teachers from rural and urban locations. Significant difference also exists between teachers of different years of experience. Lastly, significance difference exist between the perception of teachers from mixed and single schools at p<0.05. It is recommended that the government should provide more teaching-learning facilities in schools to make the learning environment more attractive to students and teachers.
